What to Expect:

In the summer of 2024, I set out on a Walk of Gratitude from Canada to Los Angeles. Upon arrival in Griffith Park of LA after six months of walking I gave away every possession I owned (and every dollar) entering into an immersive experiment in non-ownership.

Why go to this extreme?

This experiment is part of my lifelong practice of voluntary simplicity – a joyful and active means of resistance to the status quo of consumerism and the vast web of inequity, injustice and destruction that our “normal” lives are woven into. Rather than the happiness that we are promised, we are experiencing separation among us, loneliness, depression and despair. At the core of my belief is that it is humanity’s illusion that we are separate that is the source of our greatest suffering and our potential demise. This is an experiment in deeply embracing my interdependence and interconnectedness with community and all life.

This life experiment I’m on is indeed extreme. My immersive campaigns are designed to provoke critical thought – to question the unquestioned structures and norms of our society – and stimulate conversation around solutions for a new way forward.

The remedy I’ll share?

When I speak of solutions, I am speaking of fostering a deep connection with Earth, interconnected relationships with our plant and animal relatives, and true community with our fellow humans, all while finding completeness and peace within.

Now I’m continuing the experiment of non-ownership on a one month California speaking tour. Join us for a community gathering to hear about my journey, to critically question our societal norms, to build community, and to reconnect with Earth, humanity and the plants and animals we share this home with.

Together we can be the change we wish to see in the world, starting in our own community.
